Bunko Shelf is a free and self-hosted web app for organizing and reading manga and digital books. It is developed with Next.js, SQLite and Prisma. Bunko Shelf is designed to be fast, lightweight, and easy to use, with an intuitive interface and other useful features to enhance your reading experience.

You can install Bunko Shelf on your own server or local computer, and access your library from any device with a web browser. Bunko Shelf is not an online service or a content distribution platform; it is an application that allows you to organize and read your own digital files efficiently and comfortably, so if your goal is to search for or download manga/books, this application is not for you.

To run Bunko Shelf, you will need a server or computer with at least the following minimum requirements:

Bunko Shelf has two installation modes: with a local library or with a cloud library. The local library installation is the simplest and recommended for most users, as it stores all data on the same server where the application runs. The cloud library installation allows separating the application and the library on different servers, which can be useful for advanced users or those with specific needs.

The idea of Bunko Shelf arose from the need to have a personalized and efficient solution to organize and read my personal collection of manga and digital books. After trying several applications and online services, I realized that most of them did not meet my expectations in terms of ease of use or flexibility. Additionally, many of these applications were not focused on manga reading, which led me (during the pandemic) to develop my own solution that better suited my needs.

Also, as a true otaku and tech geek, I love exploring new tools and technologies, and developing Bunko Shelf allowed me to combine my interests in programming and manga reading.
